Busy, busy day
March 31, 2025
Brian and I took a walk into town in the old-town section and had breakfast sandwiches at The Coffee House. Took a stroll up and down the main drag before heading back to the boat as we had busy day scheduled.
After breakfast, Brian called Spendide headquarters regarding our new washing/dryer machine that doesn't work. He was given a name of an appliance repairman in the area. Mark, the repairman will try to get here either Tuesday or Wednesday evening. Brian also called an electric boat company in Newport,VA to ask them about diagnosing and repairing whatever is causing our alternator to get hot. The electric boat company has a technician who will be here tomorrow late morning - yeah! The tech requested pictures of various lithium-ion phosphate battery system prior to coming out to see us. They seemed to know exactly what the problem is. This would be great, if true.
Brian spent over 3 hours in the bilge putting up new lighting fixtures and taking down old wires and brackets that appear to have been part of original fittings.

Lauren spent quite a bit of time in the stateroom cleaning. There are a lot of louvered doors on this boat; she used latex gloves and clorox wipes to get between each and every slat - time consuming, then tidy up and wipe down everything else in that room. Next was vaccuming the entire inside of the boat; it's amazing how dirty it gets. After lunch, Brian sprayed and washed down the boat and then scrubbed the decks. While they were drying, Lauren went around with a squeegee and rags and wiped down everything, but the flooring. Once the flooring was dried, Brian used Semco (a teak sealer) and applied it to the decks and Lauren went behind him wiping up any excess; what a difference it made in the way it looks. Brian says this Semco should be applied 3 to 4 times a year to keep the teak protected and looking like new. That project took several hours.
Lauren made fish tacos for dinner which were yummy. A catamaran came in this afternoon next to our slip and we met the owner; he actually was looking for salt for his steaks and asparagus. Got to chat for a bit. It will be a quiet evening. We will get out with Heidi and take a walk. Lauren's already discussing meals for tomorrow.
