Ottawa and the Rideau Canal
June 18, 2025 Yesterday we left Sorel and traveled to the start of the St. Lawrence Sea Way locks. We dropped anchor just before the start of the locks. It was a rocky anchorage due to the ferries and pleasure craft. A two-masted schooner named The Pride of Baltimore II
Saint Lawrence Seaway Here We Come
Jun 1, 2025 Left our anchorage in Porter Bay just north of Otter Creek about 8:30. As we exited the Creek, Lauren saw two trawlers heading North. She put binoculars on them, but wasn’t able to get the names of the boats. Shortly after, she received a call
Champlain Canal to Lake Champlain
May 27, 2025 Last entry was off on the date. After looking over the last post, we noted the picture of Brian’s barber was never posted. Here he is: Also, we failed to mention going through the locks previous before landing in Schuylerville, that our thrusters malfunctioned. Lauren thought
Change of plans
May 21, 2025 Two nights ago, we tried to take down the mast. Just as we got the stays detached, the winds picked up significantly, roaring down the river. We did not think it was safe to continue especially when Lauren’s arms were wrapped around the mast holding on.

May 6, 2025 Forgot to mention in our last post that when we were at home base, our daughter had started her seedlings (months prior), but had moved them outdoors – she has several thousand seedlings; pretty impressive. Also, failed to write in the previous post that after we anchored, last
Arrived at the C&D Canal
May 2, 2025 Last Saturday, we rented a vehicle, packed it to head to home base – we left Sunday; 9.5 hour drive. Then we were off and running; seeing friends and family, doctor appointments, vet visit, Costco run and a dinner celebration for our oldest daughter’s birthday. Brian
On our way to the Solomons
April 21, 2025 This morning we decided to motor back across the river to York River Yacht Haven to their marina. We wanted to see some sites. Got off the dock at Gloucester Point without much ado; the winds in our favor. Brian had called the night before regarding a
Gloucester Point, VA
April 18, 2025 So, yesterday after deploying the flopper-stoppers, they definitely alleviated the rocking and rolling for a while, until the winds changed direction and the tide and current was putting our Heidi-Ho side onto the waves. We were being knocked around so much that a cleat holding a line
On the move again
April 17, 2025 Last night Mike and Caroline of Valhalla came by for a visit. They have been in Portsmouth for 6 months and are planning on leaving within the month to travel the Great Loop. Mike offered to stop by this morning at 7:30 to help with our
